Congratulations you have had a baby!

You will be experiencing joy and excitement but also the feeling of huge responsibility. No matter how prepared or organized you are there is nothing that can prepare you for any of it.
I vividly remember those overwhelming feelings of stepping out of the hospital doors into the big wide world with this tiny little bundle that was totally dependent on me.
I wanted to be able to protect my baby in all the ways that I possibly could so about two days later I was on the phone organizing insurance that could cover our new little family.

I, like most parents, didn’t want to contemplate something happening to me but it is one of the responsibilities that comes with having children – I had to put on my big girl pants and deal with it. I wanted to be prepared!

Having life insurance is important to me. I like knowing that my children are looked after and protected no matter what might happen! What I didn’t know about was all the other options that there are for protecting your family – Trauma Insurance, Income Protection, Health and Medical Insurance (actually I did know about that one). With only one partner working we needed to look at all the options – what would happen if my husband couldn’t work?

Families need to have the right protection in place then if something does happen you don’t end up with a huge financial burden.

We are on a pretty tight budget so we put together plans that would work for us. This is where it is so important to have the right person advising you.

What I like about working with Zest is that they are experienced and knowledgeable professionals. They are also parents and understand what that means and entails.
I found it difficult to juggle appointments, hormones and the demands of a new baby and when recently talking to Alysha from Zest, she told me that you are able to organize all this before bubs comes along. This is something that I really wish I done at the time.

As parents we do everything in our power to protect our children and organizing our insurance is another part of our responsibilities.

Do you have insurance in place to protect your family?
